Time-Height Cross Sections and Time Series
If there isn't a menu to the left, click here to load the full page.
These time height cross sections and time series are from the deterministic output of the NCEP numerical weather prediction models (NAM and GFS) which are run every 6 hours (00, 06, 12, and 18Z). The model variables are interpolated to the point of interest and stored in .buf files that are intended to be used with the Bufkit utility developed by forecasters at the NWS. I've taken the .buf files and generated figures tailored to the WxChallenge competition to help one make temperature, precipitation, and wind forecasts for the current WxChallenge city. Be sure to check the location and date/time of the figures before using them to make your forecast as there are times when the .buf files are delayed or unavailable. If you notice any bugs, please let me know.
