PAOC weather forecasting team
ranks third in the
2014-2015 WxChallenge

PAOC's weather forecasting team ranked third in the 2014-2015 national collegiate weather forecasting competition, WxChallenge, run by the University of Oklahoma.

Penn State came first ahead of Toronto and MIT.  See  final-scores.

It was a very close contest, our team score was very similar to TOR and PSU was only marginally ahead.

WxChallenge runs for twenty weeks, covering five, two-week forecast periods each semester, with a team prize awarded at the end of the  year. More than 50 US colleges compete during the year long contest. Our team performed well, with 9 of our forecasters ranked in the top 100, out of over 1000 participants.

Several of our forecasters received trophies for forecasting honors for  individual cities -see trophyroom:
